Givenchy joins Pitti Uomo
Givenchy is About to Become a Special Guest at Pitti Uomo
Givenchy joins the men’s fashion exhibition Pitti Uomo held in Florence – every January and June – as a special guest. On June 12, the brand will be displaying its new men’s collection instead of heading the Men’s Fashion Week in Paris. This is going to be the first separate men’s show by Clare Waight Keller, the creative director of the brand who entered the house in March 2017– recently Givenchy has decided to divide women and men’ shows, that’s why the January men’s collection was performed in the form of presentation. That show was carried by a groovy, sophisticated mash-up of the ’70s and ’90s attitudes: electric teals and purples; nipped waists; slightly belled trousers; and crisp, cropped puffer jackets.
Waight Keller told that Pitti – which will be running from June 11 to June 14 – doesn’t have the same set of parameters that Paris Fashion Week does, and it gives an opportunity for a much broader collection. “January was almost like the first chapter in the book. It was sort of setting up my framework of what I want to do,” Waight Keller said. “Pitti is the opportunity to take that step into a much broader collection, and that’s a big opportunity for me to really express what I want to do, and also just my more rounded vision of what I want for the Givenchy man.”
Waight Keller is about to continue her attempts to force the balance between tailoring and sportswear for the upcoming June collection. “It’s not only about pure casual wear and I think the way to explore that, and the style and attitude behind that, are really what I’m going to put into my June collection,” Waight Keller explained.”
The future men’s collection fashion show will come back to Paris already in January.
